How does it work?

Crime Stoppers makes it easy and safe to report a crime tip in Omaha. There are 3 ways to submit a tip: by calling 402-444-STOP, online here, or through our P3 Tips mobile app.

Whether you leave a call or online tip, all tipsters will remain anonymous—and are eligible to receive a cash reward if the information given leads to an arrest. For details on how the program works, click here.

How do I get paid?

All tips are assigned a tip ID number. Tips that lead to an arrest are given a reward amount by the Omaha Crime Stoppers board of directors—who meet once a month to review cases and approve awards.

The tipster is required to call or email back and is then given a code and a bank location to pick up their cash. That way, you still remain unknown to us and anyone you leave a tip on.

Will the police know who I am?

No.

How do I know it’s really anonymous?

All calls to Omaha Crime Stoppers are received and then routed to a call center in Canada. The call source is encrypted, so your phone number is not received or documented—so you don’t need to worry about calling from a different phone number.

Our online tip system and mobile app are powered by a leading online tip solution provider, P3Tips, and all of the tip information submitted is routed through Canada and then back down to us. The tip is stripped of IP information so there is no tracking or identifying information attached to the tip.

Does it work?

Quite simply, yes. Since the start of Crime Stoppers, many calls have been received—resulting in thousands of arrests and the recovery of substantial amounts of property. Calls have included information about murder, robbery, rape, assaults, drug and firearm offenses.

Other benefits have resulted from this:

  • Greater awareness in the community that there is a crime problem

  • A willingness by the community to fight back against crime if given the opportunity and motivation

  • Improved relationships between police, media and the community.

Crime Stoppers is a vital and effective investigative tool. And a way for the public to get involved in the safety of their community—while remaining anonymous themselves.

How is Crime Stoppers funded?
