On Monday, July 11, 2005 at 11:34 p.m. officers were called to the area of 29th & Parker Street to investigate shots fired.  While en route to the call it was upgraded to a shooting.  Officers located the victim, 5-year-old LaSandra "Precious" Coleman, inside the vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  She was transported to the Creighton University Medical Center with a critical injury.  LaSandra was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Detectives determined that LaSandra was riding in a car, with her family and a friend, while it was turning north at 29^th and Parker Street when gunshots were fired in their direction.  The gunfire shattered the vehicles rear window and struck LaSandra.

There have been reports of individuals running in the area around the time of the shooting.
